About McCandless

McCandless Sutton makes unique art. During the winter, he often uses Taos snow as a stencil  in his creative process. Gathering fresh snowfall, rocks, sand, pine needles, leaves, sage and a variety of flora from his habitat, Mac is constantly resourcing his natural surroundings for both practical artistic tools and constant artistic inspiration. 

He combines a variety of mediums in his creative process. Utilizing aerosols, acrylics, inks,  printmaking, hardwoods and much more, he creates vibrant sunset landscapes and multi-media  ensembles, eye-striking canvases and colorful monotypes, large and small, “soaking with Southwest Soul.” A series of 30 new monotypes will be on display, as well as a dozen new larger paintings  completed this spring and winter. 

Mac's Art evokes the raw beauty and magic of Mother Nature's daily gifts to humanity. His adventurous life and artistic journey now finds him channeling the spiritual energy of Taos and Northern New Mexico. McCandless combines a variety of mediums in his creative process. Utilizing aerosols, acrylics, hardwoods and more he creates colorful, intricate wood creatures, layered, multi-media ensembles, and eye-striking canvases large and small, “soaking with Southwestern Soul”.

Having exhibited from California to Mexico, to Alaska, to Texas, he now proudly shows at Jezebel Gallery in Madrid, NM and AMMANN Gallery, in the John Dunn Shops, in Taos, NM.
